Insurance funding
Advanced Muscle Stimulators, LLC is not directly paneled with health insurance companies. We cannot issue insurance forms or write letters of justification, therefore we do not mark our products up. If a patient would like to submit a request for a stimulator to a health insurance company the patient should call the health insurance company and request a list of paneled DME vendors. The DME vendor can purchase our products after approval from a health insurance company. Remember that the MyoTrac Infinity NeuroPD and the NT2000 TES stimulators are ONLY available through Advanced Muscle Stimulators, LLC. Occasionally an insurance company may purchase the stimulator directly from Advanced Muscle Stimulators, LLC to avoid the mark up from a vendor. It is worth asking if that is an option.
Helpful hints for writing Letters of Justification (LOJ):
* Letters should be short and concise and should have references to relevant research. To see a list of relevant research articles click here.
* The letter should explain why the stimulator would be helpful and which functional gains the patient is expected to make as a result of the treatment.
* For the TES the primary diagnosis should be Disuse Muscle Atrophy (ICD9: 7282) followed by a secondary diagnosis such as BPI or Cerebral Palsy.
TES treats Disuse Muscle Atrophy that is caused by another diagnosis or event.
* The HCPCS CODE is E0745 for both the TES and MyoTrac Infiniti NeuroPD. A HCPCS CODE is a DME classification system used by insurance companies to identify products.
* Some health insurance companies will also reimburse for electrodes at certain intervals so remember to include that in the LOJ.
Pursuing other types of funding
* With persistence private funding may be found through organizations such as a local Lion’s Club or through grants.
* All products sold by AMS qualify for reimbursement from Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts.
